The Lighthouse Shelter was founded in 1995. It was created to serve domestic violence victims and their minor children in Saline County, MO. Since our doors opened in 1998, we have provided our residents with comprehensive, goal-oriented support services, and community referrals.

The mission of the Lighthouse Shelter is to decrease the incidence of domestic violence and sexual assault in Saline County through community awareness, counseling, shelter, direct services, and support groups. 

The Lighthouse increases awareness of domestic violence by educating school students, as well as members of civic and community organizations. Individuals and groups are invited to help break the cycle of violence by increasing their own understanding of the issue and getting involved. If you would like a representative of the Lighthouse Shelter to speak at your event, please contact the shelter.
